Lynn Wallace Clinical Education and Professional Development
To acknowledge an individual who has made significant contributions in the area of sports physical therapy education clinical education and professional development in the specialty area of sports physical therapy through excellence in clinical teaching.
Nominate HereEligibility
- Nominee must be a physical therapist who is a current Academy member in good standing.
- Nominee must be actively engaged in teaching physical therapist students, residents and/or physical therapists in the area of sports physical therapy (entry or advanced level) in clinical education.
- Nominee may be engaged in continuing clinical education of physical therapists in continuing education settings.
- Professional development or continuing education should be in the area of sports physical therapy and preferably on behalf of the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy.
- Participates in clinical research and publication.
- Demonstrates distinct expertise in the specialty of sports physical therapy and commitment as a mentor or role model within the area.
- Members of the Academy Executive Committee and the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy Awards Committee shall not be eligible for the award during their terms of office.
- A person can receive this award only once.
Selection Criteria
- Exceptional teaching effectiveness in the clinical or continuing education setting.
- Exceptional efforts made on behalf of or contributing to the AASPT in the area of professional development courses, continuing education, and home study.
- Distinct expertise in the specialty of sports physical therapy and commitment as a mentor or role model within the area.
- Utilization of talents in publications/presentations.
- Academic preparation as evidenced by degree and/or specialty certification.
Service to the AASPT through volunteerism (elected and/or appointed). - Participation in activities that foster and promote the practice of sports physical therapy, including clinical practice.
Nomination Procedure
- One (1) award will generally be given in any year.
- Any member of the AASPT may nominate candidates for the award.
- A member may self-nominate.
- All nominations should be submitted online through the Academy's website. Please do not submit materials via mail or email.
- Nomination packets must include:
- Completed online nomination form; and
- Letter of support from the person nominating the member.
- Letters from three individuals who can specifically address one or more of the criteria for selection, not to exceed two pages in length. Letters can be from co-presenters/teachers or participants in professional development/continuing education courses.
Notification of the Award
- The Awards Team Coordinator will notify the recipient of the award and obtain written confirmation of acceptance.
- The name of the recipient will be kept confidential until announced.
